The GenAI economy generated $110 billion in sales over the past 12 months. On an annualized basis, the revenue run rate now exceeds $175 billion.<\/p>\r\n
This is the first bottom-up, deduplicated measure of consumer and enterprise AI spending across the full stack. Not a projection. Not a forecast. Actual booked revenue across app layer, foundation model, and infrastructure hosting, with API revenue counted once, not double.<\/p>\r\n
The growth curve is running three times faster than the mobile or internet waves did at the same stage of development.<\/p>\r\n
Two things are simultaneously true and both matter. $110 billion in software revenue still sits below the industry’s total capex and operational burn. The hyperscalers are spending at a pace the current revenue base does not yet justify on a standalone basis. The AI economy in 2026 has confirmed the demand signal and is still running on subsidized infrastructure at the same time.<\/p>\r\n
Seven in ten GenAI claims from S&P 500 companies focus on cost savings, time savings, throughput, or quality improvement. Explicit revenue gains are only 6% of claims. The efficiency wave is here. The revenue wave has not started yet.<\/p>\r\n
For enterprise buyers, the implication is straightforward. The organizations capturing value right now are doing it through cost reduction and productivity, not new revenue lines. The companies building AI into their core workflows today are positioning for the revenue wave that follows. The ones waiting for a clearer ROI signal are waiting for the wave that already left.<\/p>\r\n
